Commitment to Accessibility
Jeremy Anderson is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. I continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make this website as accessible as possible.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
jeremyanderson.tech strives to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. This means the website meets the requirements of this standard, with the goal of making all content accessible to users with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
Measures Taken
The following measures have been implemented to ensure accessibility on this website:
- Semantic HTML — The site uses proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and semantic elements to ensure content is structured logically for assistive technologies.
- Keyboard Navigation — All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. A skip-to-content link is provided to bypass repetitive navigation.
- Color Contrast — Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
- Focus Indicators — Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements to support keyboard and switch-device navigation.
- Alternative Text — Images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so they are ignored by screen readers.
- Resizable Text — The site supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. Text sizes use relative units.
- Link Purpose — Links are descriptive and provide clear context about their destination. Links that open in new windows are identified.
- Reduced Motion — Animations and transitions respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query for users who are sensitive to motion. - Form Accessibility — Form fields include visible labels and appropriate ARIA attributes. Error messages are associated with their respective fields.
Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Operating system accessibility features (high contrast mode, reduced motion, increased text size)
The website is tested and supported on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
Known Limitations
While I strive for full WCAG AA compliance, some limitations may exist:
- Third-party content — Some embedded content or linked third-party services (e.g., GitHub, LinkedIn) are outside my control and may not meet the same accessibility standards.
- Legacy content — Older content may not yet have been fully audited. I am working to bring all content into compliance on an ongoing basis.
- PDF documents — If any PDF documents are provided, they may not be fully accessible. Contact me for an alternative format if needed.
