WordPress Care Plans

Jeremy Anderson Tech’s WordPress care plans keep your site updated, backed up, monitored and secure for a flat monthly fee. There are four plans, from Watchdog at $350 a month to Embedded Dev at $4,200 a month, so you can start small and move up when you need faster response or more hours.

I’m based in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and look after sites for businesses across Worcester County, Greater Boston and New England, remotely or in person.

Compare the plans

  • Watchdog: updates, backups, uptime and security monitoring, about 3 hours ($350/month)
  • Guardian: adds performance tracking, small edits and a monthly call, about 7 hours ($850/month)
  • Partner: adds active development, SEO and compliance monitoring, about 15 hours ($1,800/month)
  • Embedded Dev: effectively a part-time developer, about 40 hours ($4,200/month)

Packages and prices

Watchdog

$350 · per month

Watchdog is WordPress maintenance on autopilot: updates, offsite backups, uptime monitoring and a monthly security scan, handled for you. It’s $350 a month and includes about 3 hours of work. Extra hours are $115. I work in person around Worcester County, Boston and New England, and remotely for anyone else.

Who it’s for

  • Small business sites that just need to stay updated, backed up and online
  • Owners who don’t want to log in and click “update” and hope nothing breaks
  • Sites that were built and then left alone

What’s included

  • Updates: WordPress core, plugins and themes kept current
  • Backups: automated and stored offsite, so a problem with your host doesn’t take your backups with it
  • Uptime monitoring every week
  • A monthly security scan
  • 48-hour response when something goes wrong
  • A monthly status email covering what was updated and anything that needs your attention
  • About 3 hours a month of work, with extra hours at $115

Why updates need someone watching

Outdated plugins are one of the most common ways WordPress sites get hacked. But updating blindly can break a site, too. Watchdog keeps everything current and catches problems before your visitors do. For what happens when that’s skipped, see Lessons from Cleaning Up a Compromised Website.

Terms for all retainers: billed monthly in advance, with a 3-month minimum commitment and cancellation on 30 days’ notice after that. Unused hours don’t roll over, but they can go into a prepaid hour bank at your discounted retainer rate.

Guardian

$850 · per month

Guardian is maintenance plus active care: everything in Watchdog, faster 24-hour response, performance tracking, small content and design edits, and a monthly strategy call. It’s $850 a month and includes about 7 hours of work. Extra hours are $110. I work in person around Worcester County, Boston and New England, and remotely for anyone else.

Who it’s for

  • Businesses whose website brings in customers and can’t be slow or broken for long
  • Teams that regularly need small changes made without starting a new project each time
  • Sites with many plugins that sometimes fight with each other

What’s included

  • Everything in Watchdog: updates, offsite backups, uptime monitoring, a monthly security scan and a monthly status email
  • 24-hour priority response
  • Performance monitoring, including Core Web Vitals tracking
  • A monthly 30-minute strategy call
  • Minor content and design edits
  • A quarterly security report
  • Plugin conflict resolution when two plugins stop working together
  • About 7 hours a month of work, with extra hours at $110

What the hours are for

The included hours cover the small jobs that pile up: a new page, a changed form, a broken layout after an update, a slow page that needs looking at. You ask, and it gets done within your hours, without a new quote every time.

Partner

$1,800 · per month

Partner gives you ongoing development as well as care: everything in Guardian, 12-hour response, active development hours for features and improvements, SEO and compliance monitoring, and a quarterly full security audit. It’s $1,800 a month and includes about 15 hours of work. Extra hours are $105. I work in person around Worcester County, Boston and New England, and remotely for anyone else.

Who it’s for

  • Businesses that keep improving their site and want one developer who already knows it
  • Sites where search traffic matters and needs watching every month
  • Organizations handling personal data that need privacy and security checked regularly
  • Teams running AI tools I built that need maintaining

What’s included

  • Everything in Guardian: updates, backups, uptime and performance monitoring, small edits, plugin conflict resolution and a quarterly security report
  • 12-hour priority response
  • Active development hours for features, fixes and improvements
  • A monthly 1-hour strategy and roadmap call
  • SEO monitoring and technical SEO fixes
  • MDPA and compliance monitoring
  • AI tool maintenance, if you use one I built
  • A quarterly full security audit
  • About 15 hours a month of work, with extra hours at $105

How a month works

We agree priorities on the monthly roadmap call. Development work comes out of your included hours, and monitoring, SEO checks and security work run in the background. Each quarter you get a full security audit, the same depth as the standalone Security Audit.

Embedded Dev

$4,200 · per month

Embedded Dev puts a senior developer on your team without hiring one: about 40 hours a month, same-day priority response, direct Slack or Teams access during business hours and a weekly sync. It covers WordPress, AI and security work and costs $4,200 a month. I work in person around Worcester County, Boston and New England, and remotely for anyone else.

Who it’s for

  • Agencies that need dependable WordPress capacity for client work
  • Growing startups that need a senior developer before they can hire one full time
  • Organizations running several systems across WordPress, AI tools and security monitoring

What’s included

  • Everything in Partner: maintenance, monitoring, SEO and compliance checks, and a quarterly full security audit
  • Same-day priority response
  • Dedicated development capacity for new features, about 40 hours a month
  • Direct Slack or Teams access during business hours
  • A weekly sync call
  • WordPress, AI and security work under one retainer
  • An annual architecture review

What it’s like

You message me the way you’d message a colleague. We plan the week on the sync call, and I work through it with the context of everything I’ve built for you. That’s the advantage over a different freelancer each time: no ramp-up, and one person who understands how your WordPress site, AI tools and monitoring fit together.

Examples of the kind of systems I run: a platform for maintaining about 60 WordPress sites and a security dashboard for 40 sites.

Terms for all retainers: billed monthly in advance, with a 3-month minimum commitment and cancellation on 30 days’ notice after that. Unused hours don’t roll over, but they can go into a prepaid hour bank at your discounted retainer rate.
